Kendall Syn G50 Gear Oil- Which One Is It?
I see that Kendall synthetic is highly recommended for the G50 box here on Rennlist. Upon doing a search, I can't seem to find what is the specific formulation that is recommended.

There's Elite, SHP, Super Three Star,......... and some others. I'm assuming based on the product data information that the preferred product for the G50 is SHP. But i'd like to be sure.
I'm repairing my G50 this offseason and would like to give the Kendall a go. I've used Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 SHC (thanks Lufteknic) with good results thus far and would like to see how Kendall compares. Not a great comparison setting since i'd be comparing pre-repair to post-repair conditions, but i'd still like to give it a try.
Thanks,
Kevin

KLehmann,
I believe the following is what I used:
(Redline Svs. in Long Beach, CA is where I got it.
Peter Zimmermann's old place)
This lube has completely changed my tranny.

EDIT: upon a second look it may have been the SHP. Kendall may be able to give you the names of local sources.

... and addictive. I may just go with the Mobil Delvac, as many seem to like the results. I haven't found an easy way to buy the Kendall. Perhaps I could call around to the various Porsche shops to see if they have it.

Scott: I've never used the Redline synthetic, I was always so pleased with the Kendall I never felt a need to change products. Give Andial a call and verify that's what they use, but talk to a service guy in their street shop, not the race shop - there might be a difference.

Started searching the net today and this is what i've found so far.
Royal Petroleum offers the 80W140 Kendall Three Star, so it's likely they could source the 75W90 grade needed. But it does not look like these guys sell to the general public, nor do they operate outside California? Maybe some CA guys would have better luck looking into this.

DalSaglio in Utah carries the limited slip additive (if you have open diff, you don't need this) but they don't list the Three Star. Based upon the big selection of Kendall they offer, i'm sure they could get it. As you can see, they sell in LARGE quantities. But it does look like they can sell stuff by the quart/bottle. Probably sell you minimum of a 12 qut.per case basis?
http://www.dalsoglio.com/order.htm
Since both of the above are obviously trucking retailers, I doubt they'll ship stuff. So I contacted Kendall directly via an email to Conoco Phillips (kendallmotoroil@conocophillips.com) asking of where the Kendall suppliers are in my area- Illinois.
I'll keep looking................

Gentlemen:
A word about that recommendation from Pete on that Kendall stuff,...
Now,.............this is important!!!!!!
The "Kendall" name was bought by ConocoPhillips in 1997 and the products branded as "Kendall" since then are NOT the same since that buyout. The base stocks and formulations are different (engine & gear oils).
The old Kendall refinery in NW Pennsylvania was not picked up in the buyout, only the name. The old Kendall products marketed for many years under that name are now made by American Refining Group in that same refinery, by the original people, now under the name "Brad-Penn".
They do make an excellent GL-5, 75w-90 gear oil; Product #7763.
Kendall earned an amazing reputation for 40+ years and the stuff made by CP is NOT the same as the "good stuff" that many of us raced with for all that time.
My apologies for the interruption but I HAD to make that distinction.
