Default 88 cab with 180k miles

Found an 88 cab with 180k miles. Recent (5k miles ago) top-end. 4 owners. All service receipts since birth.

What do you all think this car's value is?

First, where is the car located, is this local to your location? It is hard to buy a car "long distance" instead of being a local sale, where you can really see the condition of the car, and check the engine and other possible mechanical problems. A PPI, would really need to be done, even with all the paperwork being with the car. At first look, it seems like a lot of miles, but it is only about 9000 or so miles a year. Only about 750 miles a month. So I guess that it is actually not really a lot of miles. It is good that it had the top-end done fairly recently, what about clutch and timing chains? I have seen some with like mileage, that have sold for $11,000 -$14,000. I have also seen others sell for less, with even fewer miles. It would also depend on just how good of condition the interior, paint and body is in. Do they have a asking price quoted to you yet? Hopefully some others will be able to chime in also. Good luck!!

of course a ppi.

yes, clutch replaced at time of top end.

interior looks good, no cracks in dash or the like. all new carpeting.

seller has it listed for 19,000...talked with him today, says he bought it for 15 & put about 4-5k in it in the last year....

My gut says even a great condition car with this many miles is probably only worth 14-15k...

19? I don't think so. Just cause someone bought a car for 15 and put 4 into it doesn't mean it's worth 19. Cars are not like that.

Please add your location to your profile. I'd be surprised if the car was worth much over $16k.

Kravdog, I am the proud owner of an '88 cab. the interior is almost in showroom condition. The top was brand new. It had brand new Toyo Proxis tires. Paint is in 10 foot condition. clutch, 1st & 2nd syncros were brand new. It has LSD. 54,000 miles on the clock when purchased from a broker that got it as a trade in from the original owner a week or two before I found it. No mods, 100% original equipment other than the Toyos. I paid $20,000 in Costa Mesa, CA. I guess what I am saying is that you should keep shopping. $19,000 is a fine price for a great car.....just make sure it's a great car you are buying. My car was owned by a college professor at Ohio State and was a definate garage queen. at this stage of the game the cars are 20 years old and have been hammered into the ground as daily drivers, or pampered like the queens they were intended to be. I looked at ads for 100's of California cars and drove 25 of them that were all loosers....When this car came up It was a no brainer.

P.S. as far as I can tell I am getting 3,000 miles or more on a quart. Put that in you pipe and smoke it.
