Default what did you drive before your pcar

well here in a couple months i will be purchasing my dream car, which would be my first pcar to own. It's a 78 SC with the 930 body kit. I have always loved these cars my entire life, but was never able to afford them, so until now i have had to go with my cheaper german friend VW.

Heres my current car:

2001 GTI VR-6 Turbo pushin 400whp.

My old VW was:

2001 Jetta Wolfsburg with Votex body kit and chipped.

I'm selling the 400whp beast to buy a 96 vw jetta to go along with my soon to be SC.

What all did you guys drive before your pcar?

also, i have searched the internet to see about turboing my sc further down the road, but cant really find any info on it. anyone have any links to vendors so i can check prices on the kits and all?

Thanks again guys, i cant wait to join this group, I used to work at Dumont Porsche here in Oklahoma City, it was like going to heaven everyday at work!

Wow, 400hp sounds great! (but only on a RWD or AWD for my driving style)

Oh boy... prior cars of interest? (I'll omit the many pedestrian commuter cars)

'87 Corvette (black, auto, glass targa - in TN - make offer$)
'87 Porsche 928 (moved out of S. FL and discovered mountain roads)
'59 Mercedes 190sl roadster (had to sell when rust took over)
'93 Lincoln Mark VIII (had kids & Cougar master cylinder went out, in heavy rain, with infant in the car)
'94 Thunderbird
'69 Cougar (teacher era)
'73(?) Opel GT
'71 Fiat 850 Spider
'58 Mercedes 190sl roadster (RED - stock broker era)
'59 Mercedes 220s (with sunroof - not running - still have it in Mesa AZ - make offer$)
'79 Caddilac streteched Limousine (college)
'72 Cutlass convertible (college)
'81 Camaro
'78 Fiat X1/9
'74 Peugeot 304 diesel
'75 Audi 100
'74 Caddilac (500 cubic inch engine!)
'67 Mustang (added Boss 302 heads)
'79 Renault LeCar (custom convertible with rollbar - still have it in running condition - Mesa AZ - make offer$)
'66 Pontiac GTO (returned it after one day & kept driving Firebird)
'68 Firebird - added a '66 GTO 389 (11th grade - learned to "drift" decades before that term emerged)
'56 Chevy pickup (9th grade)
'69 Volkswagon Squareback (8th grade)

Yep, I had another high-hp FWD car, a (different) 1991 Ford Taurus SHO, custom block, cams, Vortech V1 S-Trim (15psi), Quaife diff, coilovers (600#/400#), etc., made 419 wheel hp (~505 crank).

Before that & my current SHO, 8x other SHOs, then going back to an '86 Monte Carlo LS (orig. euro nose 5.0L), modded w/ built 350 / Turbo 200-4R, 3.73 Posi Rear, etc., then the '80 Cutlass w/ Rocket 350 transplant (G-Bodies RULED), '88 Tempo, '77 Nova, '76 Vega to start it off.

Wow....I am 41 years old and the list of current and past cars would take too long to list.
Good to hear that you are getting your dream car and that its a 911. By the sound of your topic you got it at a very young age...grats to you.

2 Corvettes both 1970 (just sold), 1 '65 Sunbeam Tiger, Porsche; 911,914;356, 2 Mustang Boss 302,
2 '56 Ford Big window pickups, 1 '66 Mustang K code fastback.......I'm tired now. Out of these cars I would not trade my 2 mid 80's 911 coupes for any of them.

Welcome to the world of Porsche! I started with Porsches,--and later bought a couple of VWs. I do things backwards a lot.

Nice to know I wasn't the only one. It did have a nice sun roof and you could park it anywhere in Zooport Beach.
