Default broken connector for oxygen sensor question

I was unpluging my Oxygen sensor connector to replace it today when the white plug broke in 2 pieces on my 85. I am left with a wire , a metal pin piece and a bunch of broken plastic. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I fix this?. Does the large white plug have a purpose other than just being a connector? Can I just attach the wires together with a suitable generic connector? Thanks for any input. Doug

I think lots of guys just buy the cheap O2 sensors and splice the wires and tape then up. I just replaced mine a couple days ago and wow what a differance.

Oh, and if I'm wrong..... Don't Taze Me, Bro

So you think is the large white plastic plug might have no value other than being a fancy connector. Dont worry we dont all have tazers in Canada...yet.
