Thar' suppose to be a fuse here?

Ian's right. The empty one changed over the years but usually it was the rear defogger and, on cars so equipped, the rear wiper. On some mid-year cars it was the fuse for the fan relay. There may have been other uses for years I'm not familiar with.

sounds like your starter could be caputz if youhave lots of juice and your grounds are good. check your connections at the starter . as well as your grounds at the body up by the battery and the one from the transmision cross member area to the body.

John,
She usually needs 3-4 tries to start up before the fuel regulater gets it right. If it don't work Im pretty far away from the house by then. Good Idea, Might have to give it some thought!

I had a problem with mine in the past, you could try to start it, everything would work correctly(lights, wipers, etc.) except the starter would not do a thing. It would crank sometimes, other times, mostly after driving, you would try to start it and it would not crank, it got to the point of me parking, where I could roll off and start the car. I finally traced the problem to the yellow, ignition circuit wire that runs from the ignition switch all the way to the starter. I checked the yellow wire circuit with a meter, and it would show 12+volts, but when trying to start the engine, it would not carry the load to make the solenoid to actuate and crank the engine. I replaced the entire length of the yellow wire, and have not had a no-crank problem since. I had many, many, people saying it was a bad starter, bad solenoid, etc. I believe that I did post all of this several years ago, and it might possibly still be able to find here or on Pelican. Good luck!! Tony.

I have full juice but no key-starting on my 84. elec switch & solenoid are fine (replaced w/ new same problem, now using old elec switch again).
Manually using a phillips screwdriver to turn the elec switch over under the dash (disconnected from the key / mechanical part of the switch), car starts flawlessly. Using the key, 0% of the time now.
