Default 911 Race headers?

Struggling with deciding which headers to put on a 911 SC race car. Options are European Racing Headers, great but mild steel, prone to rust away; OBX, inexpensive, stainless, not sure of actual performance; S car go, too many $;
Fabspeed, stainless, looks great, with more sophisticated collectors than all the others, but unsure of performance.
Fabspeed actually looks pretty good to me.
WIth the Fabspeed, and OBX I would have to have the section past the headers fabricated up to include tiny race mufflers and exit properly. ERH has a complete system that is race oriented, but would require Jet coating to extend the life.

Can anyone offer facts, experience or other suggestions?

JMHO, but the Euro Racing headers are simply excellent in terms of power.

I have them coated for longevity and that holds up very nicely.

B&B mufflers have a bad rep, but their headers get the thumbs up by most. They aren't necessarily cheap though.

The only problem with Fabspeed is getting a product where the welder actually put it all in the jig before they started welding. They go thru spurts with QC issues....

Cool For headers and mufflers...

I'd take a look at the www.smartracingproducts.com catalog. They have an incredible catalog in pdf format.

Yes it is excellent, they carry the European Racing Header system.

I think it's very hard to go past OBX, I've got a set of the 930 headers and am very impressed with the quality and $350 for the NA model... Check this thread:

Are you using the M&K race mufflers? As Steve pointed out I've always heard the European Racing headers are the best for power along with SSIs if you want heat.

I was concerned that the SSIs might not be the correct tube size for a racing SC. Anyone know?

Another benefit of the B&B's, you have some choice in diameter for SC's/Carreras. With and without heat are available too. With B&B's, and a chip I pulled 207HP at the rears on an otherwise stock 3.2L Carrera with 120,000 miles at the time.

No affiliation here, just a VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER of Mr. Weiner! Steve did a set of headers for me last January. They are the european racing headers and they work GREAT! Have not put the car on a dyno for before and after comparisons, but the butt-o-meter tells me that I have more torque than I had with the el-cheapo headers on the car previously. AND they looked so pretty I hated to install them, OR wanted to run the engine in an upside down configuration so all could see these works of art. After one year of track events, they STILL look nice. The jet hot coating (INSIDE as well as outside) is worth every penny.

FWIW, I thought Steve did a great job with my entire exhaust system. As noted earlier, no affiliation other than being a very satisfied customer.

SSIs are the correct size for an SC but are less beneficial to the 3.2 motors.

I have been using the same set of European Racing Headers for more than 9 years. They are still solid as a rock and working great.

Steve,

Are those the headers made in/or sold from Las Vegas? I'm using a set and they're excellent. What coating would you use to inhibit rust? Thank you, Dan
