Question Another Dash Light Question

Well, I've searched the threads on dash lights and bulbs, and can't seem to find the answer to my question- how many bulbs are there behind the clock? The bottom of my clock seems to be unusually dark- is there a bulb at the top and the bottom? Thanks-

Hello,

My clock only has one bulb, and it's at the top.

It should be fairly easy to pop out the clock and take a gander.

I have an 84 and just had my clock out today for repair. There is only one bulb and it is at the top of the gage.

I think they are available on ebay but i just bought some white 30,000mcd LEDs and resistors and soldered and epoxied them into my old instument light globes.

I think ebay is easiest

I tried the LED upgrade and was completely unhappy with the narrow light beam. I ended up replacing all of the lamp sockets on my dash to fit the bayonet type lamps that are available at almost any parts store. They are almost the same diameter as the original sockets and the bulbs are quite a bit brighter w/ the **** rotated to 'full power'.

BTW, I drilled a hole and mounted a second socket on the bottom half of the clock.

have you tried just replacing the bulb with a new one. I replaced all of mine and am quite happy with the results. But then again I prefer a more subdued lighting. When driving at night I don't want the dash to light up the inside of the car ..

Very smart Dan!
I might try that if my car ever makes it to the road
