Thank you sir. You have been a wealth of information and help. I’ve always wanted one of these little cars & it seems like a lot of fun so far, however I’ve got a lot to learn. To say thanks & help my learning curve I just ordered your book. Your a gentleman and a scholar. Thanks again...

Pete, is it hot out or what? I haven't seen a cloud in days. Followed a little 2.2 longhood across the 105, up the 605, and east on the 210. He was on a joy ride about 9:30 last night.

We're keeping tabs on relatives that live about an hour north of Minneapolis, they are having some really cold weather! This time of year in Bakersfield is really sweet - mid-60s day, low 40s night, and mostly clear - makes up for our summers. I talked to a friend in SoCal yesterday, he said it hit 80 on Sunday! I'll wager a bet that it's top down driving for you - nice avatar!

Boys, boys.

Good help and accurate information are hard to find. Having a computer and a little Internet time does not a Porsche expert make….

I’ve been on Silver Strand rd.. It’s gorgeous. If I were rich I’d live in Corndado.
What's the tirick to turning the gages.

Are you asking why or how? If it's how it's simple, just pull the gauge out, turn, and then reinsert.

Why? Well I did it too my speedo because from where I sit I have problems seeing the 'highway speed'. The steering wheel blocked it, so I turned it and now I can see my speed on the highway without having to lean over.

Sorry Pete, you've been hijacked....the reason for the turned gauges is as stated by old man; I can't see how fast I'm going above 80MPH. Start with the clock and pop it out. It's small and easy. Reach in the clock hole and push on the spedo. Then while you have it out reach in and push on the tack. turn till you can see how fast you want to go and push them back in. it's pointless to turn the clock. I'd rather not have them turned, but it's kinda cool. While you are in there check the date on the back of the spedo and see if it matched the date on your wires. You can guess why.

ice: Nothing wrong with your mind , it's just frozen - call it, uh, hibernation!

Douglas: Even with the stock 15" wheel the gauges can be hard to see. Add a 13.8" Momo or the like and it really gets tough, but I still love the instrument layout!

We do that all the time with our formula cars, except it's the tach we turn
(redline to 12 o'clock ) since we don't run speedo's!

Thanks!

Pete,
Is it normal for the outer rings on these 2 bearings with the lock rings to be able to turn in the housing?

(I assume that you are asking about the lock rings, not the outer races for the bearings!)

It sure is, the lock rings don't fit nearly as tight as you think that they might. As long as they're seated in the grooves you're good to go!
