Default 1983 sc Cabriolet - roll bar required for DE's?

I assume it's required. Who offers them and how much?

Thanks,

I think the cheapest one is the Autopower unit. I think the best one is probably the DAS one.

I have the Autopower for mine, but if I'd had the bucks to drop, I'd have gone DAS.

I don't think roll bars are required for drivers ed, you may want to check , may be required for club racing however.

I am the registrar and instructor for the Lone Star region

We require rollbars for cabs in Yellow and White and Red Run groups

It used to vary a lot region to region, but I see that Northeast now requires them on the older cabs without the pop-up head rests. They used to be one of the regions where roll bars were not needed.

I suspect it became an insurance issue.

So you are saying you do not need a roll bar in Green and Blue run groups if I am reading your posts correctly. There fore you can take your car " as equiped" until you get a feel for wether yo u like it and want to invest in a roll bar / mods.

I ran in 3 DE events this year, all in Green. My vehicle is a 87 911 cab. and the rollbar is required. Ran at Rockingham and VIR. VIR requires cabs to have a rollbar and Boxsters to have the extenders on models up to I believe 2005. I would not run on the track without it, no matter which group I was in.

I think you'd be nuts to run a cab (one that does not have automatic roll over protection) in a DE without a rollbar - no matter what the run group or sanctioning body.
