Cool Starter Motor

Can anyone tell me what the amp draw is on a starter motor for a 1984 Carrera?
Thanks.

Oddly enough, the Bentley manual doesn't seem to give these figures. I did find, however, that on an 88 Carrera, the battery load test is to pull 200 amps for 15 seconds and have the battery show 9.5V at 60F. So this might have some correlation to a healthy starter load.

Murphy - Thanks for the info. I couldn't find it in the Bentley manual either. I'll take your info and run with it.

starter solenoid around 10 amps

starter draw around 100 amps in good condition with good wiring. Engine timing, engine compression, etc can affect current draw.

the common 911 starter cranking problem is often not the starter. When this issue arises I would get under there and directly jump the solenoid from the starter battery terminal. That will help diagnosis.
