Advice on an 89 3.2 Carrera
Ok guys here it is, as soon as I sell my 1994 3.6 turbo I will be looking for an
89 3.2 Carrera ( preferbably guards red ) with about 30k-55k miles. I have looked into different mods. So far it looks like I will be doing an elephant racing suspension ( stage 2 ), M&K exhaust, Lindsey 17 in fuchs and a Steve Wong chip ( had a nice conversation with him today..nice guy ). what kind of price would seem fair to pay for a vehicle with that type of mileage? also if any one has any advice on mods I'll be glad to hear them.
Regards,
Rey

The car is $20,000 but the low miles, that's another $10,000. When you find it, it's gonna be in pristine condition and should remain that way, not tracked. If you want a track car or a wicked street car look for 80,000-125,000 with a fresh rebuild. you can expect to pay as low as $15,000 if you drop the mile requirment.....good luck

I don't really mind paying a little more for the right example. My 94 turbo has only 32XXX miles so i will try to replace it with something similiar in mileage..what kind of options I should be looking for? how are the cabrio?

At the moment most higher mileage cars I have looked at have not caught my eye but that can change. I"m just trying to buy the best example( a good starting point )I can for my money. I certaintly understand why most would advice in a higher mileage car but the car will see no track time. The mods are just to improve the fun factor. Should I even bother with a suspension upgrade or just lower the vehicle to european height?

If your not going to track the car just having all the consumable parts up to do date i.e. rubber bushings, shocks/struts etc. will give all the fun factor you will need. If you find a car with all of that done then so the better.

I paid a premium for mine a few years ago (high 20s), and although she was a garage queen at the time, she isn't anymore, but still appears like a new car. She'll be yours, do what ya want...they are not rare ! I've got a SW chip, euro premuffler, GHL muffler (M&K wasn't available then, good choice), 930 brakes, and I've done a ton of other stuff, but focus on R&Ring the suspension...not cheap, but most effective imo (along with putting the Carrera pig on a diet). IMO, 17" Fuch$ are overkill on a Carrera, why not go 16" and spend the premium you'll save on other mods. Be willing to search nationwide and don't be impatient, as it may take 6 months or more to find the "right" one for you. Get a PPI from a reputable mechanic who knows these cars, not a dealer. Good luck, and the search is part of the fun!
