the lower # will be dependant upon environmental temp at startup, right? (as to "appropriateness") IOW, 20W50 would not be a choice for sub -10 deg. C but 15W would get me down to -`5 deg. C (example).

Using Royal Purple 20W50 Max Cycle,..currently under testing.

I just put in Castrol GTX 20W-50. But I had to change it because I did a Techron treatment & I didn't want to leave the dirty oil in all winter. I have ordered 3 cases of the Brad Penn oil & I will change it in the spring. 20W-50 again.

There are many oils that are still "CI" or "SL" rated and still have the necessary additives. I've found many of them at the Virgin Oil Analysis section of Bobistheoilguy.com
