Default Older car financing options?

Hi guys,

My friend is looking to finance an older car...what do you guys recommend for him? I want him to try a couple places to see comparisons on the interest rate.
I know that capitalone does old cars...any others I can have him look at?

Thanks,
Jim

How old is the car. My '88 was like 9% ten months ago. I think we did a normal credit union buy. Wife claims to have paid it off 'cause the interest was way too high. the house is like 6% and the second was about the same.

Then it is like any other car. just hope you have a 780 credit score and you're good.

I financed a 79SC through my credit union a year and a half ago @ 7% and that was the best I could do when shopping around.

Try Capitol One, their rates seems about right.

Jim,

Didn't see you had already listed Capitol One.

I used Cap One Auto Finance (formerly PeopleFirst Finance) for the last 2 cars I've gotten, including my '84 911 Cab. The loan amount was available up to the purchase price (100% finance) in the case of mine.

The rates are a bit on the higher side now that Cap One owns the company, but their process is pretty easy. I took the pre-approved check with me, buyer & seller went to the local UPS Store for a Notary & fax service, called Cap One to let them know what was up, faxed the notarized docs, and away we went less than an hour later.

Similar setup when I sold my dad's '64 Vette - buyer used a Cap One check.

Because the rates are higher for this type of loan, if you have the equity, also consider a Home Eq. Loan, etc. As for the credit union, we did that for my wife's '03 minivan, and the rates are only slightly better than on my 911.

check out firstagain.com

started by the same guys that started people first.
I have one from them at the moment for a car I just bought.

I have had two capital one loans in the past. They're alright.
Don't get me started on who, where, rates. I could write a book.
pentagon federal has the best ''put a lien on my car" auto loan

Since we are talking Porsche it shouldn't be too hard. 1984 911 still has value. I got 5.25 on my 911 which was the same as any other used car loan at my bank.

Just shop around.
