Default Tire sizes on 1989 3.2 question

I just bought a '89 3.2 cabriolet which is in need of tires. It appears as though the rear wheel is wider than usual, perhaps a turbo wheel? I thought I read the 89s came with standard 8" fuchs in the rear.

I don't think the size that tirerack.com is telling me is correct.

Can someone tell me the correct tire size, front and rear for an 89 3.2?

Thanks

Assuming them to be 7 x 16 in front and 8 x 16 in the rear the normal tire sizes for those wheels are 205/55-16 and 225/50-16 rear.

'89 did come w/ 6 & 8 x16. 205/55 & 225/50 x16 are the correct standard sizes.

There is little visual difference between the 8x16 ET10.6 stock rear wheel and the 9x16 ET15 930 version. If you aren't an expert pull a rear wheel and look at the back of the spokes, all the info is there.

I've got 205/55 16 on 6X16 rims on the front and 225/50 16 on 8X16 on the back. Mine is an '89 coupe.

Actually, the difference between an 8x16 and a 9x16 is easy to see. The base of the lug nuts will be flush with the wheel on 8" wheels, but look like they are countersunk on 9 inchers. 9" wheels will usually be fitted with 245/45 tires.

Easy for you to see, easy for me to see. Not so obvious to everyone

Yep, roger that... 9" rear with 245/45/16 that's what I have on my 88 coupe. That size is getting hard to find.

Dan.
