Nice car - that's really sad. Such things have been going on a long time. When I was living in El Paso in 1971, my roomate's '67 Corvette 396 was stolen from our driveway. When the police arrived, they pretty much brushed it off, saying the car was in Mexico by now, either parted in Juarez or on it's way to Mexico City.

A la carte Porsche parts from Mexico
It is likely been chopped up and sold for parts- which is a shame, because it is the lowest mileage '87 I've ever run across.
Looking ahead- I am not sure if the Targa is the way to go- the coupes seem much tighter and more rigid. You can't beat the Targa for sheer fun of driving, though- but it is a noisy ride most times.

I know what you mean about the targa, sometimes I love it (usually when it's warm) but sometimes I just want a coupe. I guess my only option is to buy two cars.
