Default Suspension Question

1982 911 SC with 78K miles

Question: I can grab either front tire at 3 and 9 oclock and while rotating the tire see the steering wheel rotate about +/- 15 degrees. Is this normal?

The car is on jack stands supporting under the front bearings of the A-Arm.

My apologies, I should say that this is while I am twisting the wheel while holding at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions. The car is supported on jack stands.

I have no idea what you are trying to communicate. All I can gleen is you're twisting something, and something is (or is not) moving.

If your car is supported on jack stands....
When you hold the tire and physically move it as it would be if turning the car...the steering wheel will follow your movement. If you move the steering wheel the tires turn....if you turn the tires the steering wheel turns. You are making mechanical movement through the steering rack from the tire to the steering wheel....get it? I would be extremely concerned if the steering wheel did NOT move when you moved the tire as you are descibing. Now...if a helper holds the steering wheel and you still get some slop or movement in the tire you have shot suspension parts....get to a mechanic. 911_pilot

This was not a joke. I just didn't properly describe the problem
