Once the heat shield is off the three bolts at the muffler are fairly accessible, it's the forward ones that can be nasty. A job to be avoided until it's absolutely necessary to do!

Ian, I converted holders to what you see in the pics above so many years ago (the short one was probably done in '71/72), that the holders might have been purchased from Baum or Assenmacher.

Yeah, here's the bottom of it... I wasn't doing it right.

I figured it out eventually though.

so the vales should be in fact loose ? and if they are not do not continue ?
