Default disassembly of flag mirrors - Help

Can someone enlighten me on how to disassemble the flag mirrors on an 1986 Carrera? Photos would be great! Can it be done while on the car or do they have to be removed?
Cheers.
Dave.

Define disassemble?
you can take the glass out, then unscrew the rubber rimed electric bit and then unscrew the "flag" part from the upright without removing them from the door. But the wires will still be attached.

I'll see if I can dig up some information, Dave.

Once off the door, gently lever out the mirror. When the mirror is loose unplug the two brown heater wires and place the mirror somewhere safe.

You will then be able to see 3 phillips head screws that hold the rubber/electric bit to the flag bit. Unscrew them and remove it and the wiring.

An allen key will then fit into the main base screw. See below.

these main screws may be of two types.

that's about it.

Thanks Frank!
Everything is working OK except the passenger mirror must have been apart in the past and was put back together with the rubber on upside down. I was wondering how to get the mirror out and then change the rubber back to it's correct orientation. So from what I gather the mirror just pops out if I pry on it carefully? No screws etc holding it in?

That's right.
There are three metal clips that are bonded to the back of the mirror. These push into a plastic sleeve that are inserted into the metal part of the rubber bit.
