Popping the Speedo out is a good thing you find things like stickers that say "N.Hollywood Speedometer" Ask me how I know.

They are a repair shop for broken speedometers, tachometers, etc.

It could have been a simple color change or broken gear that was sent in the day it broke......or they may have run 50,000 miles off it
