Got you. I wasn't planing on high pressure wash. But I guess with simple green and a water hose will do. Anything that should be sealed off?

Wrap a baggie around the distributor. I probably would avoid the spark plug holes. Don't remove the spark plugs if there is water in there or it will fall into the cylinder. Other than that I think you should be fine.

Don't pressure wash the engine, transaxle, or any part of the car with paint or undercoating on it.

Other than that, have a blast. I'd suggest using the thing on your driveway.

Jclark: One little heads-up for you.

Recently, Dept.'s of Environmental Health in many cities and counties across the U.S. now forbid the washing of engines or car parts where the "discharge" goes into the stormdrains, or on to surface run-off. If a neighbor or stranger sees you and calls the local cops, you could be cited. It isn't cheap, either.

If you MUST spraywash/rinse your engine, trans, greasy tools or parts, etc., use a catch pan, and take the "effluent" to a household hazardous waste (HHW) faciltity near you (note: if a city/county enforces "non-source-point pollution" laws, they will provide HHW facilities - usually near a landfill).

I've gone from spraying my car engines to the Simplegreen-wipe-and-shine method to avoid accidental effluent discharge into the stormdrains.

Just my "green" 2-cents.

Cold water only and hold your breath. Let's not contribute to global warming.

Black Pearl gave you good advice. You can just call around to car washes and ask if they recycle their wash water. Go to one that does.

Every little bit helps. I remember just 15 years ago when people wouldn't think much about doing an oil change over a grass field, emptying the coolant down the drain, or burning used tires out in brushfires.

It seems we have come a long way since then...which is good.
