No.

It's someone's project, and it's likely helping AC performance at the expense (maybe a little, maybe more) of cylinder head temperatures.

I would think if they run all the time, they would pull a greater amount of air into the grille, thus helping both AC & oil temp. But, it would be dependant upon the CFM of the electric fans being greater than whatever the 11 blade fan pulls in.

Speaking of which, is there any good info on the CFM of the 11 blade?

IF they're pulling air into the engine compartment I would think they would definitiely assist with the AC and engine cooling. The stock fan is not the most efficient in the world, especially in high humidity, high temp areas (read Florida).

They're definitely a homebuilt project, the factory never did that mod. Too bad I can't do a similar thing in my 930. I can hang one under the AC condenser in the engine bay, but i don't have room over the IC for one.

Are they wired to run all of the time, only when the AC is on, or a temp switch activated thing?

I can't see any downside to them.

I agree, sounds like someone did a nice job on it. I'd keep 'em.

They seem to work well. I posted this on PP and there was some interest shown in providing more details of the install and fan make, p/no etc. I do not get back home until next week but when I do I will take more photos and repost for those interested here.
Cheers.
Dave.

I would love more info, part numbers and pix. The AC on my 75 blows cold when it's in the shade below 85 degrees...pretty much when you don't need it. Other than that, it's sort of "cool" air. It's not worth the hassle of relocating the condenser, and I had been thinking about trying something like this....

I believe that is the standard temperature at which Porsche AC quits.

On my old 930, I threw away all the stock AC stuff - all of it - and replaced it with a triple condensor modern system from Griffins. Awesomely cold air at any outside temp. Getting non-semi-permeable hoses alone is a big step up from stock AC.

I topped up the converted-to-134a AC in my Carrera yesterday, and got it to read 43 lbs on the low side, so it is working pretty well today.

Dave,

Were you ever able to dig up any more info on the fans?
