Default Frustrating restoration story

Recently decided to have the floorpan - including fuel tank - restored; long story but the body and engine have been completed over the past 4 years. On getting the car back ran fine for 150 miles then loss of power and 'fluffing' on acceleration. Problem - blocked injectors (new only 1500 miles ago). Cleaned and replaced fuel filter, 50 miles later same problem. Tank has signs of rust but not huge flakes just a dusting pulled up on a magnet but clearly disturbing the tank has caused a problem.

Try to keep the car on top line and more problems caused - oh well, problem with a 30 year old car I guess but frustrating for all that. Looks like a new tank before things get really bad and I finish up needing a new fuel metering unit.

You say you had the fuel tank restored, what did they do, paint it? It should have been stripped inside and out and I believe there are coatings for the inside if the walls are in rough shape. New fuel tanks are pretty expensive, try and find a good shop to rehab the one you have properly.

A new tank will save a lot of hassle. If the inside is not properly done the coating will peel over time and your problems will continue.

ignoring the teething problems, that i'm sure you'll have sorted soon. i bet every mile of the drives you've had so far have hopefully given you more smiles per mile than anything else on the planet can offer. well, i hope so, it does for me. good luck with the fix.
