My heater blower is shot. Read a post by Bill Gregory concerning using the engine fan to push air into compartment.
Experimented by rigging tubing direct from the engine fan to the exchangers on left side. This seems to work. I got heat out the left compartment vent. This, despite the fact that my heat exchangers are showing signs of rot and obvious air leakage. However, just cool air, no heat for the defrost. Is this because the right tubing was not connected? I live in a realively mild climate and believe I could get away with the modest amounts of heat for compartment and defrost. If this works, it looks like this could be a clean and inexpensive alternative to a new $200.00 plus heater blower.
Any thoughts on this set up?
Where can I go for parts to retrofit the right and left side to receive engine air?
Regards

Buffalo,
There's an article at
http://forums.rennlist.com/scripts/r...c&f=1&t=000034
which can also be reached from the tech.rennlist.com site under 911 engines, which has the part numbers for the conversion. As a source, you might try Hendrick Porsche (800-315-8193) as they discount 20%-30% (no affiliation, just satisfied customer).
If you have manual heater levers on the floor, the other thing to check is that the wire between the control and the heater valves is not broken. Sounds like the one side you checked is OK. Also worth checking the heater valves themselves, as they can rust out. Also ensure the hose between the heat exchangers and heat valve is in good condition. Leaky heat exchangers, of course, can influence the amount of hot air available.
