Default Is This Strut Brace The "Real Deal"?

My '83 SC came with a somewhat formidable looking Strut Brace (photo below)...

The PO stated that he understood the Brace was a factory piece delivered as part of the M474 Sport Suspension Option...

It is a very sturdily made piece, and nice in that it has the adjustable Heim Joints to set preload, and could be made to include a 3 point Brace if desired...The bolts, etc. that hold it together are all metric sized...

When I got the car, the Brace had been installed using the factory lock washers, and had a fair amount of the "Black Glop" that Porsche put around the tops of the Struts, on it. I carefully cleaned it, and it is very well made, but I wondered if anyone else had seen one from the factory?

My Porsche Dealer said he had seen factory Strut Braces on the 964's and 993's, but they are of a different design, and he had never seen one like this, and in fact, had never seen one on a 911SC, that he could recall. However, he couldn't recall if he had ever seen an M474 optioned SC, so back to the original question...

Is it factory, and if not, who made it? (Just curious! Don't need to sue them for anything! ;>))

Thanks in advance!

It's definitely not factory but I can't tell you what brand that one is...

I sold off a factory brace that I picked up at the race department in Zuffenhausen. It looks nothing like this piece you have. The factory part carried a 911 part number as I recall. Could get it for you if you really need it. They were of a larger diameter aluminum (about 1-1/2 inch diameter) and were secured to the strut towers with allen headed bolts. Coud get you a photo if desperate!

No, it's not that important. I did not find a P/N on it when I checked it out...
I guess the photo doesn't show well, but the brace IS secured to the towers with Allen Head metric bolts... just like the ones w/o a brace...
I like it, and it seems to work well and look good, so it doesn't matter who made it...

Here's the factory part. Number is 911 501 939 00 and it is called a Domstrebe. Seriously well made out of aluminum for the 1974-1989 cars. I think it used to run about $250 in the mid 1980s at Zuffenhausen.

That Porsche brace looks almost identical to the one I bought from AJ Racing back in the 90's. It always seemed like a classy part, I didn't realize it was a copy of the factory. Unless, of course, it actually is factory....I never have seen, neither have I looked for a p/n though...
