Default Fuchs question

I have 16x7 and 8's. If I want to go to 8's and 9's can I just move the 8's I have in the rear to the front and find a set of 9's?

Just curious - do you want to do this for better track times or mainly for the look on a street car?

If just for street use, I believe your car will feel less nimble with the increase in tire size.

I would be surprised if you can run 8s in front. The usual way to upsize is with the 8s going up to 9s in the rear and the 7s staying put.

Depends on which 8s

The usual 8" Fuchs fitment on the back of an Sc or Carrera is a +10.6mm o/s, theses cannot be used on the front of an SC/Carrera fleare car.

The other 8 is a 944 wheel, it can be used on the back of an SC/Carrera flare car, usually w/ spacers so it doesn't look funny recessed into the wheel well. Thes have +23.3mm o/s and can barely be squeezed onto the front if some tricks w/ suspension settings are employed.

+25 to +31 mm 8s are the preffered fitment in the front.

7 & 9 is a good fitment for most uses and avoids the bulk of the fitment issues which are associated w/ wider wheels. Only if you want that last ounce of grip in the front would you go to the trouble of fitting 8s there.

Put the 7's up front. Sell the 8's and get some 9's for the rear. great handling and great looks!

You may get rubbing with 16X8 in front, depending on tire size. If you run 225X50X16, you'll rub at lock, and in some heavy-load corners.

I think 7's and 9's X 16 are good, too. I'd go 225/45/16 fronts and 245X45X16 rear. Note: You can run 245X45X16 on 8's, and the tires fill the wheel well/fenders nicely all-'round. Mabe try tire sizes on the 7&8 combo first?

Just my cheap 2-cents worth.

BTW: I'm looking for a set of 16X8's....

Thanks all
So if I do just 9's in the rear, do I need spacers to push the fronts out a bit wider? The 7's are slightly inset.

You wouldn't need to, unless just for looks.

I don't think any of it will work .. I suggest you take off your Fuchs altogether , put on some cheap cast aftermarket replica and donate the Fuchs to me ...

if you are going to be a bear - be a grizzly - find a set of 951 8's and some 9's and go to town.

(I have 225/45/16's on the front with no issues)

Cheap knock offs are not so much for me... Sorry ice. I am just wondering what the norm is with running 9" rears. My thought was that they fill the rear fender handsomly but then if the 7's are left in front, you have an in consistant look. So again, what is the norm out there?

The 7s will be mighty close to the lips as is, the 9s actually have some room to be spaced out, most don't but it can be done.

The wider a wheel that you try to fit the more issues you will run into. 7s & 9s are an easy fit, any wider and you will need to be more particular about, o/s, lip config, ride height, suspension setup, tire size & shape etc.
