What decrease in value, if any, would you have if you have a 87-89 930 turbo that was hit by a lady in a parking lot which caused the quarter panel to have to be replaced, and a Porsche dealer did the repair work? Not noticable, and would have to be told about it or have a mechanic tell you about it to know it happened? Would it affect the value and if so how much? Thanks.

the car would have to have been blue ribbon with 10 miles on it to be too costly. most people understand that at that age it will have a fiew flaws. just enjoy the ride.
go ahead Gary R. chew me a new one.

I'm one to disclose anyway. If it's serious damage, it's going to affect ACTUAL value. If it's non-functional, non-rusting kind of damage, it comes down more to IMPLIED value. In this case, with an exotic car, I think this is more your problem. In this case, I'd go out on a limb & say it's probably a 10% max of value, more like 5% if it's totally non-functional. Now, if you don't disclose & it comes back later that you knew, & withheld the info, I don't know what that does against you legally.
Good luck, sorry for the hijack, but ball-bustin' always comes first, right?

k, Thanks. I am actually looking to purchase the car, and the guy was good enough to disclose it without me having to uncover it through a PPI. I like the fact he disclosed it without any hesitation.

this is where dealing with a previous owner comes in handy compared to a dealer. A dealer may not know it happened and an owner may have actually been there when it happened. Just pay really close attention to that part of the car as you inspect it. If you are new to Porsche, pick up peter Z.'s book, it will walk you thru the purchase of a great car. good luck

Yea, This guy has had the car over a decade. I pulled the carfax, and the carfax is clean. I can't say that for a 1982 I was looking at that shows a Flood Damaged title, along with 60k miles over what the owner is stating in his ad. I'm not going to actually get to see the car before purchase in person, but I will have a PPI done, and make sure whoever does it pays particular care to look at that quarter panel. Where can I find this book? Thanks.

dang it the book is locked in the trunk of the car, locked in the garage and has to be pulled out to get to it......anyway.....its Peter Zimmerman "Used 911" You can get it at automotion.com(performance Products) or I'm sure amazon.com Send him a private message and he will respond. his posts on most threads is the last word on it, he's that good.

I got my car without the book. When I got the book I felt like he wrote the book for me and my car. it may as well have said "Doug, you got the right car". He nailed it perfectly. What I wanted, what to look for, good and bad. things like the manual top I wasn't sure was the right way to go I felt much better about. any way, good luck
