Default can't get the chain cover off!!

Hey guys,

I'm trying to remove the left chain cover but it just wont budge, I think it may have been sealed with some kind of bond at it's last service like yamabond, I know the porsche centre uses that stuff, well so I've been told. Anyway, any suggestions? I dont want to try to jam a screwdriver between the surfaces for obvious reasons, maybe I need heat? I tried to run a blade in the gap with no luck.

cheers guys!!

Spence, No screwdrivers or prying! You do NOT want to do damage to the mating surfaces!

Start with a razor blade type tool with handle (box cuttter). Wear safety glasses so if blade shatters!
Try to get an opening and try tapping cover edgewise with a RUBBER mallet as you work blade around. Once you get a small gap started, use a sligtly thicker PLASTIC, flat tool (like a body putty knife). This may indeed take some time and patience.

I would also NOT use heat on aluminum covers!

they stick on the carrera tensioner o-rings. what mo said. i use a rubber mallet to get a gap, then pull/rock it all over until it gives.
