Default Carfax question

I'm looking at a 2001 Carrera. It's on a broker's web site and there is a button to push for a Carfax report. I pushed it. The button takes you to Carfax where it says there are 19 records on the car, and I have to pay $29 to find out more. 19 records?! Is that a lot for any car so it's not worth even paying the $29?

Thanks.

29 records doesn't necessarily mean bad news. Try to find someone with an open Carfax account and see if they'll run it for you. I tried to get a free carfax once- couldn't do it.

Good luck,

Paul.

More than average, but not necessarily bad news. Some states report license renewals, emissions tests, title transfers and some dealers report repairs and maintenance.

If the car is nice otherwise, $29.00 doesn't seem like a bad investment.

jay that broker already has the carfax on his desk and will fax, email, or read it to you. I looked at 25+ cars and never once had to pay for the carfax.

Thanks all. I got the Carfax. Largely uneventful. It does show where the car came from and where it seemed to stay until the broker. From a comment on another thread, I'm going to call the dealer in that town and get the history - if they will give it to me. The broker did say they would do it for me too.

Now only if the wife wants to go with this idea (Sell my flawless 2000 Boxster S AS/full leather MB, PSE, Litronics, B&M, 18", ext. warranty for the 2001 996 Cab). Yes, I love the sportier feel of the Boxster. But, the two extra seats in a car that my wife can use too has a huge draw.

But, also up for consideration is any 87-89 cab, preferrably white/blue if anyone knows of one for sale.

Jay, not sure where oak park is, but I remember a great grand pre white/linen '87 cab in escondido. I drove it several times, but wife didn't like the white leather seats. it would be a hard swap from your 987. I was in love with it for months and I have to admit it dripped, but it was a one owner from arizona and super clean.
