What is the general thought on the strut bars for an SC coupe?

Do they help, or not?

Are they worth the $150 to $200 for what appears to be a decent Bar>

Any particular brands stand out as more or less effective?

Is the triangulated bar worth the extra bucks and hassle to install?

Car already has the M474 Sport Handling package, with HD Bars and Bilsteins...
Pretty stiff already, esp. with new Nylon front Drop Link Bushings, and the Heim Joint bottom end.

I'm going to try modifying one I already have for another vehicle first. Purchased new from Fleabay for $25 shipped.

I just installed a Weltmeister bar on my 81 Targa and highly recommend it. Easy install and you can feel the difference. It does not stiffen the ride any but you can feel less twist or deflection in the body shell when going around corners. With sport suspension and Bilsteins it would really help tie everything together to get the most out of the car.

Yep, that would be my guess...
If everything else is already set up to provide "tight" handling, then the last place to "give" is the strut towers...

So, get out my checkbook...here goes another $200 + bucks!

I was going to say too, the triangulated bar might be overkill.

Have both the triangle d and the strut brace.....makes the car a point and shoot car with the tail try to keep up(I gotta get that rear sway bar mount fixed).

Try the Elph. Racing triangulated bar - test drive the car w/ & w/o - that is the only way to know for sure - and it might be a placebo effect also. A blinded test would be best.

I upgraded my Weltmeister to accept single or twin aluminum tubes and hardware. Saves weight over the existing steel components.

Best single bar is the Wevo Camber King, which comes with monoball towers. Of course it costs a ton...

I made this one myself but with the cost of the 6 rod ends it still cost $100.00. It definitely works, though.

My setup.....redundant yes...but stiff like a go-cart.

The best bar imho is the single bar from the factory. If necessary, I can research the part number for you. I put one on my 1981 when the car was about 5 years old and it tightened up things considerably. It's now in a friend's 1978 930.

Not sure how you would quantify this statement other than it's an official version from the factory.
