As an old Porsche 911 guy I can tell you that in fact the term "SC" did in fact stand for Super Carrera. Super Carrera was always reserved for the pinnicle of development of the Porsche sports car, and the term was first coined on the 356 SC,--Super Carrera. As factory interest in the 911 was waning in the late 1970s the car was dubed the 911SC for Super Carrera,--as far as it would ever go in development. When Porsche AG hired American Peter W. Schutz he immediatedly sensed the stupidity of killing off the cash cow of the company and immediately injected R&D money into the 911 line instead of following the masses at Zuffenhausen who were going with water cooled and front engined designs. His sense was spot on and the rest is history.
Yes. 911 SC stands for Super Carrera. It was to be the last of the 911s, until a boost in development led to the 1983 911SC Cabriolet and following that, the 3.2 Carrera automobiles.
Schutz turned the company around,--doubling sales and increasing after-tax profits ten-fold.

Ah Ha!
So then in fact, Porsche, in keeping with using model designations to indicate the qualitative hierarchy in their cars, deleted the S (Super) from the name of the 911SC's successor, the (NOT Super) Carrera!!

There you go! (Actually, the "Carrera" 3.2 began in the marketing world of Porsche after they decided to keep the 911 line going.)
Further evidence of this is seen in every '911' since the 911SC. Every model of 911 has been given a name instead of a number.
911
911S
911T
911E
911S
911SC
Carrrera
Speedster
Carrera 2
Carrera 4
Carrera S
Carrera 4S
etc.

Hey guys ...late to this party, but may I make a suggestion:
I have an older SCWDP shirt (BTW, yeah, the pelican board is a good idea since they get more 911 traffic there and that's where I got this shirt) and would like another, as well as a sticker ...but not necessarily a badge. Since the badge is being worked on, from that "mold" what is the possibility of creating those clear-reverse-style plastic stickers to place on the inside of the glass? THAT and a shirt would be very cool! BTW, if anyone needs shot of the old design, let me know.

Man, T951, I like some of those as well... This is getting to hard to try to pin down. Maybe we need to do one design per quarter, or one per year!

E and F were the clear winners on the vote so far. I just got off the phone with one of the guys I have been discussing this with here locally(a printer). I am a little leary about what the quality might be from a Zazzle (he did not say this, but just after talking to him and listening to all the different suggestions, I formed my own opinion). So, I have him looking into the quotes. Should here back from him tomorrow sometime. He is working on T's, caps, garage banners, coffee travel mugs, coozies, vinyl cling decals and other items. He had some good suggestions. For right now, he is quoting me the E design on black shirts, and A and another one on grey or white shirts. E could be done on white or grey as well, but he says to trust him and let the black make it pop - that's fine, but I am not a black shirt fan. i am sure others will appreciate it. It is a more expensive (more than obviously) to do a logo on front and back (because of setup time), but he is also working with me on that. Also, I asked him to work up quote on the F design as well for us. Once artwork is approved, he said it should take 2-3 weeks to get the product. ia m posting this same message to the board as well.
I am just going to run with it a bit and post to let you know when I have the stuff available for purchase. It would be impossible to please everyone, but we will try to get as much available as possible.
Some questions garage banners: how many are interested in them? what would be the most popular size?
I am also working a possible deal on golfballs. Any other interest in those?
