The car is beautiful! It is a 915 tranny, which hurts it a bit. Is it an '86? I think that was the first year for Prussian, right? I just sold an '86 targa. Granted, the targa isn't worth as much as the coupe but it was guards/black which is a better re-sale color than blue (I LOVE prussian blue, personally, but generally speaking). The targa had 110k miles and I think it brought $14,900 off the retail lot. I think that was pretty cheap, but the AC wasn't blowing cold and your car was probably in a bit better overall condition. I'd estimate that you have a $17k or $18k car.

"value", "time of year", "location", "can't find a 911" all terms that are so funny to me. I am surrounded by 911's every day and they are all $20,000 and up. I could find over 100 on autotrader today in the '86-'89 range. most advertised above $20,000 and most daily drivers. the sad part is that they are not in very good shape. interiors worn out, suspention gone, paint chip/ door dings, all the normal everyday car stuff. just enter a so cal zip into autotrader. try 91761 and do 100 miles on an '80-'90 year range on 911. you will find $70,000 slants, and $17,000 hoolywood rentals. you would think in a town where a 1,000 944's are only worth $2500 that a 911 would not be worth much more. it's all in the head turn factor......

Beautiful car. I wouldn't sell if you have room to keep it. It would just be tough to find another one as nice, should you ever want to buy another one like it.

Agreed. Bring it over to Seattle and hit the jackpot. Serious lack of quality inventory over here means much $$$ chasing too few cars, many with deficiencies. It's like guys passing girlfriends around. After a couple months, you'll find out why he dumped her.

I shipped mine in from Chicago (P-car, not girlfriend).

So that's sorted then. Advertise the car in the Seattle & Portland Craigslists, then plan a weekend trip up there- show the car, sell the car, get a rental from SEA or PDX back to BOI and you're done.

Simple!

Another thought- advertise it in Bend. I sold my Range Rover to a couple from Bend- and got more calls from there than anywhere else. Lots of money, lots of good driving roads, and a few indy Pcar shops.

Good luck!

I have had my 911 for 10 years. It has 47k and hasnt been tagged in 4 years since I moved to Dallas. I have had it for sale several times but I found that I wasn't calling buyers back. I was doing everything I could to Not sell the car. It was some inner force. After driving a friends boxster S I got the fever again and joined this post. Its only got 47k but I just had the clutcch upgrade, fuel lines, oil lines, etc.. done. Also just ordered an M&K muffler. Cat pipe was already installed. This forum has also made me appreciate the car even more.

Keep the car.

Put a price on it that is high enough that you won't feel bad if you get it.

I'd have a hard time letting that go for 19 myself, but if it drives like it looks, I would probably pay that.

I've never understood this concern. There are 100s of people who see my car with its plate every day. So what that people can also see it on the internet. What are they going to do with it?

If you have a rare 993TT special optioned car for example, you might want to blur your plates. Otherwise, if it's a common car, don't worry about it.
