my 67 needs professionally stripping and repainting after the summer.
nice from a distance, but close up its sun-faded (even post T-cut and polish) and starting to bubble in tiny areas which will only grow and get worse.
it was repainted in the mid 80's keeping its original paint code.
but whats the consensus? go for the original paint code and keep it all original (everything else is on it) - or pick a new colour?
Original color. If you want to retain value, stick with the original color unless the car is completely repainted as the factory did, under the hinges inside the fenders, behind the engine insulation, etc. This is very costly to disassemble to the level required to paint that thoroughly. Big detractor when you can see evidence of previous color.
There's a lot of Red cars out there.... and Polo red was a pretty common offering back then. There are quite a few special colors for 1967, and many of them are extremely nice. 1968 has a lot of great colors as well. If your car is repainted to a very high level it won't matter if you change the color....
