Ignition coil moved!
I was just doing a general inspection of the engine compartment and noticed the coil was just about to slip out of its bracket. The end was about a half inch from coming completely out of the bracket.
Anyways, thought I would post just as a heads up that this can happen. I can only imagine what would happen if the coil started flopping around in the engine compartment.

JV 911, oil inside coil acts as an insulator as well as helping disapate heat. If its leaking out, the coil may fail on you in the future. Best to replace it soon so as not to leave you stranded.

see if you can get a black one from VW. I bought a replacement Bosch 911 one and it looks terrible on my car. It is silver , I put the old one back.

thanks all,
just called a local supplier and he wants $400 USD for one made in germany?!?!?!
found a bosch coil on pelican (part 901-602-502-00-M14) $78 USD
aparently these are made in south america (mexico?) and have had some quality issues. anyone got the low down on this or an alternative ?

Last month I installed a $28 MSD Blaster coil from AuitoZone and have read others recommend the MSD Hi-Vibration Blaster coil for about the same price. Mine is working well so far, but time will tell.
When I tried the yellow aftermarket coil (forgot the name brand, but it's a big one), it leaked oil within a month.

Once you find oil leaking from a coil it's long for this world and will need replacing.
