I just began reassembling my 3.0L SC engine, and notice that my crankshaft is slightly magnetic. It seems like this would not be a good thing. I had the journals polished and the oil passages drilled, cleaned and replugged. How big a problem is the magnetism?
Did the shop that did your crank work magnaflux it? It could be residual but unless I'm mistaken I think that all large hunks of metal (including crankshafts) have some inherent magnetism. Are we talking dust sticking to it or the wild e coyote type of magnet?
