Default 1985 Turbo Body 911 Carrera

I had a call from a old friend today in regard to the above referenced.....I will likely see it this week; it was a special order car as to color, leather color and options and it has had one owner. Of course miles are very low, as under 30,000.

How rare was the Turbo Body option in 1985? Does anyone on Rennlist own one? I have checked Peter's book and some other Porsche books, but I have yet to find anything.... It is option M 491

Of the '84 to '89 Carrera's it is the rarest. It has the turbo body and suspension I believe. I have heard numbers as low as 400 but I would have to check references to be sure that is true. Good looking car to be sure...

I have an 84 FTL coupe. Yes, the cars are fairly rare. The numbers provided by Porsche are still up for debate as to their reliability, but they should be in the ballpark.

For 1985:
213 Coupes
65 Targas
113 Convertibles

Validate on the option sticker under the front hood the option codes of m491 for the FTL and L999 for the paint to sample code. Paint to sample would make the car even more rare. Mine also is a paint to sample.

May I ask what the selling price is?

Good luck, madmmac

Rare yes, expect 3-5K more than a similiar carrera. In the ROW they are known as the "super sport"

1985 still has the smaller AC vents - lower seating position and the 915. It's also a little slower that a "regular" carrera because of the increased weight and frontal area.

It does have the turbo brakes body and suspension -

The color is a cream/white....Don't have option number yet....It may have been paint to sample......I do know the full leather interior was a special order or leather to match

I have not seen the car yet....I do know it is mint....less than 30k miles and the asking price is $38,000 or above; which sound likes a real stretch

Thanks to those of you that replied

As you may recall, the 930 turbo was unable to the USA after MY79 through and including MY85. As a result, a few lucky (and rich!) buyers ordered the closest thing they could to a 930 with the turbo look. I seem to recall the markup was around $26,000 so it was extremely rare.

Default Options

Some more data the exterior color is Chiffon and the full leather interior is Dark Cedar Green......Miles are 29,000 or less and the seller is the original owner..... I have not seen the full option code list yet

I don't think I have any interest, but then again I have not seen it in person or photos.....if anyone does on Rennlist, let me know and I 'll get you directly in touch with the owner....." as I don't have a dog in this fight "

This car was for sale not to long ago in the low 30's, and when I called they said it sold, so this must be the person that bought it... the option was approximately 10g's not 26k, and these are rare cars, wonderful color combo.

The ad was on cars.com, I called it was gone, could have been as long as a year ago, not many Chiffon white on dark green coupes, I have no life just looking and enjoying Porsches, so it was there... LOL

I have an 85 wb cab. that I recently purchased. I have been watching the selling prices on these for a while and Its in the ballpark if its really good. You will only know that without a FULL inspection including leakdown. They have sold in Canada for up to $48,000 and in the U.S. up to $40,000 original, low mileage and clean. They are definitely headturners in spite of the age if thats what your looking for. Just install the turbo tie rods and your set to go. Probably a good long term investment if any car is.

I pulled some info off the Internet a few years ago. It said:
1985 M491 Sales
213 Coupes
65 Targas
113 Cabriolets.

I hope this helps. I'll be putting a Cabriolet on Ebay in about a week.
