Default Fuel test port in supply line

I can't find any info on this, so if I don't get a response, I'll do it anyway as a guinea pig. It's a stock 83sc.

I need a fuel test port for SCCA. The only place I see that would be good is to splice into the supply hose to the accumulator, I believe part # 911 356 097 00. It's replaceable (assuming I can buy it somewhere), and easily accessible. The downside is that it's in the engine compartment. I don't see a reasonable line to use outside of the engine compartment.

I plan to cut the rubber part in half and hose clamp (the good ones) in a barbed aluminum T with a schrader valve. Same valve used on the MX-5 cup cars.

Anyone have objection to this, or know a better place to put it? I don't have time for fancy fabs before the weekend.

Thanks,
David
