Help me decide
Hello all- I'm a new guy here and I'm nervous about pulling the trigger on a purchase. It's a '73 911T coupe,15" Fuchs, silver, black int., very solid except for rusty outer rockers. Haven't driven it yet but it sounds great running.
Very good/no rust battery box, floors, suspension mounting points etc.
Pretty much original except for shabby RS front bumper (doesn't come with the original). Needs rocker panel replacement (probably paint whole car), carpet,tail-light lenses and some TLC. $8000. I don't see how I could lose, but please clue me in.

Therew ill be WAY more rust hiding .... depends what you want I guess.. I suppose you had a pre purchase inspection ? if not get one for sure on a car this old ...

+1 on the PPI. But 8k sounds like a great deal for a running early car.
But if someone else is doing all the work, i.e. rocker replacement and repaint, it could cost an additional 12k easily. Unless you can find some grassroots kind of guy that can do it. And that doesn't include any mechanical work on the engine or tranny. A PPI will help you prioritize what needs to be fixed and then you can tally up the expected costs of afterpurchase work.
I went to school in Austin at UT. Miss it bad! Tan girls and tex-mex, damn. If it is an Austin car, there is a good chance it will have little rust. Go for it!
