Default FINALLY, i'm done with my fuchs

After at least 30 hours of work, i've FINALLY turned these white 6/7x16 fuchs into my much-desired polished petals/rims black inserts.....never again, never again.....

I dont know why so many people switched to that polished look, no offense gunlover but I think the white looks 10 times better. For what you wanted though you did an incredible job! If I did like polished fuchs I would be drooling

Great work! I have been kicking that idea around too, polishing them up that is. Like Marc said, can't wait to see them on the car!

Talking

Thanks much guys...the compliments are much appreciated. It will be a few weeks until i get them on the car.....wheels are a personal taste of course, but i have salivated all over myself for polished petals/rims ever since i caught the fuchs bug 6 months ago..I'm relieved this job is done, given the time invested. I would say the job is not hard per se, just very very time consuming....

in retrospect - for @ $450, a professional can do them perfectly. I'm a definite do-it-yourselfer, and it took me 30 hours of my own labor, and it probably cost me $100 in materials easy. That would equate to @ $11/hour I saved doing it myself, but I still didn't get a professional looking job either... If i ever need to go down this road again, I'll have the pros do this job.

the wheels didn't turn out perfect by any stretch (but you have to be 3 feet away to see any flaws), but they look pretty good to me. I will definitely post pics when i get them on the car - I worked to hard not to show them off

They look terrific. But I'm with you...there are certain jobs that, even though you can do them yourself, they're better left to professionals. My time is worth far more than what it would cost to have a pro like Al Reed do them, and his work would probably look better than mine.

Congrats, though, on great looking wheels!

When its all said and done, a bad polish job on a Fuch will still look many times better on a pre 89 911 than any other wheel could ever look.

It's interesting how much polished Fuchs look like Cragar SS wheels I used to put on my '60s musclecars.

Do you have a set of instructions I can follow to do the same to my spare set of Fuchs?
