CARFAX Requests...Is it right?
#16
I am in the same boat as Von Kiser. I buy a lot of cars and for 2002 have exhausted my allocation of reports. I have NOT asked anyone to ever run for me, but would in case I needed to. I did try to sign up last year under my wife's name, but we share the same credit card number and they wouldn't accept it!

In my opinion, asking a stranger to spend their time doing you a favor for something that is so easy and inexspensive to sign up for, is just plain ballsy. Put another way, I wanna buy a Porsche but can't afford CarFax?

OK OK OK OK OK , i get the picture!
But one thing , all the questions that are asked on this board. Are they taking away buisness from current owned Porsche shops?
The orignal issue was for me to help a friend on a carfax.
STOP THIS SOAP BOX
Lets start the questions for Porsches not soap issue!
thanks

Ladies, excuse me. If you don't mind...
Morality of doing Carfax's for others aside, fact is the customer agreement one signs when they buy the service says they won't run it for others, as someone else posted above. So,
If you have needs that Carfax doesn't address, contact them. I'd expect they have other terms and conditions available, as dealers can't have the same limitation as Joe consumer.
If you or a friend can't or won't spend the $15-$20 for the Carfax service, please don't use Rennlist to ask others to do something in violation of their agreement with Carfax.
With that said, I'm going to end this thread, so we can return to discussing Porsche 911's. If anyone has a concern, please email me offline.
