sport mufflers from AJ USA and Performance Products

Just another data point - I have had two of the AJ-USA units; a 2-in/2-out and a 2-in/1-out.
They are indeed not stainless. They are "aluminized" steel. Here in So Cal my original mild-steel 1970 factory muffler was still not rusted after 30 years so this was not a big concern for me. But it doesn't look as sweet as the polished SS ones either.
Anyways, as Steve mentioned, the 2-in/2-out is a factory sport muffler clone, and does liberate something between 5-10hp. It ran fine with my MFI car too. But, it was LOUD. Would get you dinged at any track that had harsh noise regulations. Probably up around 96-98dbA I'm guessing although I never metered it.
I sold that one to go back to a more stock appearance and sound and got the 2-in/1-out version. It has a nice, less-raspy note that is still a bit louder and more "burbly" than the stock sausage.
If you don't want to spring the bucks for the Dansk or Monty, I'd recommend the AJ-USA mufflers.
