Default Sunroof busted

Does anyone have any particular advice on how to fix a broken sunroof cable?

I was driving from Nashville TN to Greensboro NC and opened the sunroof. I was going pretty fast and did not pay much attention to how far I had opened the roof. I held the rocker switch in the opening position a second or two too long and it seems the cable or something in the sunroof mechanism started to break. I knew it didn't sound right so tried to close the roof. It closed almost completely and then broke. Now the roof is stuck slightly open (not even enough room for a finger but plenty of room for water if it rains). The motor is fine but whatever the motor operates is broken.

Any advice?

I don't have any first hand advice to offer, but are you in Greensboro now, and what year is your car (if that makes a difference)? If you're still local (to me), maybe between this board (and Pelican) we can get you pointed in the right direction. I have a garage and tools you can use if necessary. Good luck!

ps: I also have a Porsche car cover (that I never use) that you can borrow.

Keith,

Go to Pelican and do a "sun roof repair" search - you'll find everything you need to know to repair your broken cables. It's a great resource!

You'll have to remove the sunroof and cables to get any broken parts out of there. always lube up the new ones prior to installing them. It takes two people to remove and install w/o damaging the paint around the roof.
