engine builders
I have a quick question, I have never owned a Porsche but with luck I should get into one next summer (thinking 3.2L carrera).
My long term plan is create an N/A 300ish HP wide body car... kinda a mild 934.5 look. In the mustang and Subaru world that I have been in for years enbuilders are abound.
My question is who are the "recommended" builders and do they offer various stages of motors, IE: shortblock versus longblock set ups.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I would like to have my ducks in at least the same room let alone a row.
Thanks all!!!

Hi:
There are several good engine builders in the country and some (high profile) that I'd stay FAR away from.
Do your 'due diligence' and homework to see who is both competant and honest to consult on your project to see how much you are willing to do and what you need done by a professional.
Remember, air-cooled engines are FAR FAR different from water-cooled ones in many respects that must be accounted for in the configuration so it will run safely on pump gasolines.

This is something that you should take your time with. Engine rebuilds cost allot of money if you want it done properly. I found my local mechanic through word of mouth. I didn't let him rebuild my motor until I had gone to him for a year and watched the quality of work that he performed. I found him through recommendations from fellow PCA members.

My current line of thought is this:
My a nice clean 911SC or 911 3.2L drive and enjoy the car for a while tinker and learn the car well. Then I should be able to formulate what I want from the car, and begine to mod. Or it may be that another Porsche would suit my desires better.
