If all goes well I should be trailering a (new to me) 88 Targa back home to Georgia.
Red and Black Targa with front and rear spoilers under 50k miles, concours condition. I know, red and black, not original or rare, but beautiful nonetheless. (I wanted red, silver or grey). Could not find a top notch silver or grey 87-89 Targa available from a private party. (No sales tax in Georgia if you buy from a private party).
PPI done at local Porsche dealer, with just a few minor items taken care of by the owner. Clean and short carfax, the PO has had it over 10 years. He added a few extra things to the car but also is giving me all of the original items (and based on the pictures even the original stuff is in near perfect shape).
I can't wait to see it and do the final pre-purchase drive to finish the deal.

when I was looking everything I wanted kept me going back to '88, not the '87 and wasn't even so sure about the '89's. the '88 just had everything done right.

Thanks. I was looking for a 87-89 before when I gave up and bought the 993 locally. The 993 is a great car, but in my mind and heart, I wanted the classic look, targa, red and black, etc... 87-89...and now I hope this is the one....
I owe pictures, I know, but I have no way of posting yet, the owner gave me a link, and there just a few items I want changed before revealing it to the board. So sorry.
How about one of my 993? He's going to have a another brother soon.

Well, the deal is done. I drove to Detroit and trailered my new Targa home this weekend.
My wife and I took it out for a drive this evening and the car is awesome. It drives without a rattle, extremely tight, quick, shifts perfectly, handles great, and is absolutely beautiful. 88 Targa, red and black with 45k miles, multiple concours winner, etc......
PICTURES.....
I am posting the weblink for pictures that were posted by the PO.

I hope this works.
NOTE: THE ORIGINAL SEATS ARE PERFECT AND BEING REINSTALLED THIS WEEK. THE CORBEAUS AND RED BELTS HAVE GOT TO GO...too uncomfortablle and I like the original seats much better. he gave me all of the original parts for the car, my truck bed was full of boxes and the extra seats.
The wheels are perfect and I think I'm going to put some 17" wheels on for regular use and keep the polished Fuchs for shows...
But WOW...I love the way this targa drives, even better than the 993.
Much more sports car like!!!
