Lightbulb interesting carrera ???

Hi,

Has anybody ever heard of a late 80's carrera with a 3.0 liter engine from the factory. Well i have seen one today @ my mechanics shop. Its a Euro model and has all the carrera stuff except it has a 3.0 engine. The car is all original!

I have seen late 70's carrera 3.0 but never a carrera from the 80's.

Very rare in the US atleast.

Cheers

What you saw sounds like a Carrera 3.0, made in 76 and 77. They were the precurser to the sc and if I remember correctly were available everywhere but here.

In the mid 80s there was a very desirable model called the SC/RS it had a 3 liter mechanicaly injected engine, turbo flairs, turbo brakes

from Want to be:

Nope it was a carrera either an 1984 or 1985.

The car had a Carrera badge and all the other trim pieces.

The car is in for a top end rebuild <she has 160k miles on her>.

I guess it was a special order in Europe but its oringal according to the owner.

Any chance it's a late SC with a Carrera badge and front valence (with flush-mounted fogs)? When I bought my '81 SC, the previous owner had installed a Carrera front valence and a Carrera badge on the engine lid (which I immediately removed). Otherwise it's completely stock and original, and it looks exactly like an '84 Carrera -- same steering wheel and the sport seats look the same because they don't have the stitching across the headrests that the standard SC seats have.

This would be pretty easy to clear up, run back over and get the VIN and engine type number.

Question

Is it a 3.0 with CIS or DME? Easy visual inspection only.

Ok i went to my mechanic shop and took Pic's of the VIN #. I went home and got out my Used 911 book to check Vin's. Well the flash was on and i can not read anything on either plates that i took.

I do have a Pic of the rear in the air but that it.

The car has 3.0 engine and set up from Europe. The rear badge says Carrera and the Front spoiler is a Carrera too. <fog lights>

The owner said he special ordered it in Europe with a 3.0 in 1984. I guess Porsche had a few left over to use up.

Sorry i feel kind'ia dumb about the Pics
<should have written it down>

They had a rare 944 Playboy Turbo , all fiberglass being worked on too! <cool>
