One thing to keep in mind regardless of which option you choose is this simple fact: it is almost always cheaper to buy the car you want than to make the car you want. In other words, I would look around for a V8 911 and test drive it. You can be assured that it is probably priced less than what it would cost to have the conversion done. Same goes for a modded 911 with a flat-6 installed.
