Default Brake Pads

I'm looking into changing my brake pads (I have no idea what is in there right now...probably OEM pads).

The car is used for weekends on the street and about two autocrosses per month.

I'm thinking about using Hawk HP Plus pads since it's supposed to be a street/autocross type brake pad.

They also have the Ceramic line which is a step down from the HP Plus with less dust and noise.

Anyone have any experience with either of these pads?

I've use the Hawk HPS (fronts only) on street driven '85 and LUV them. They make stopping for red lights fun. Very low dust, lower than the ceramics I have on back. I think I've got ~30K miles on them and 50% pad left*.

The HP Plus "get you to and from the track without brake change" according to the compound diagram on Hawk website.

The ceramics you refer to are the Performance Ceramic and according to a the hawk diagrams the HPS has slightly more stopping power and longer pad life.

*They do appear to be fairly tough on discs.

I used Porterfield R4S pads on a BMW and on a C4S that I really liked. I believe they are very similar to Hawk HPS. I will be putting them on my Cooper before I head to Roebling Road with it in May and on the SC next time it needs pads.
