I am in the process of acquiring a 1987 911 club racer car (F class), but I am still in the Yellow run group.
My question is, what tires and wheel size and brand should I begin with?
The car has MPSC on it now, but I think I should learn on street tires,
what is your advice?
Thanks......

Since I’m looking at doing the same thing next year I’ll give you my insight.
The popular wheels are ccw classics 8X18 in the front and 9X18 in the rear. Most people run 245/35/18 on the front and 275/35/18 on the rear.
I agree with the street tire comment, I’m going to stay on streets for this year as well.
As far as street tires go the most popular are the Michelin PS2's, Yokohama
ADVAN Neova, and Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R for the big names. The cheaper alternatives are the Falken Azenis 615's, Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212, and the Khumo MX's. The cheaper tires offer the same grip in the dry as the big name tires, but aren’t as good in the rain and are more sensitive to temperature changes.
I'm running the Falken's and they grip very well when they are at the right temperature but they get hot very easy so you have to make sure the tire pressure is just right.

Your tire and wheel sizes will be limited by the class you intend to compete in and your budget. I'd stick with 8/9 combination with 245/275 combination. Stay on street tires. Their lower traction limits will allow you to gain skill at lower speeds.
