Sunroof glitch - any suggestions?
In anticipation of responses to my "any suggestions" question, I am not ready to weld it shut YET.
I replaced the sunroof cables in an 88 Carrera. The first 3 times I pushed the switch, the roof smoothly slid open and closed. On the 4th try, the roof openend about 2", and then wouldn't open any further. Any suggestions as how to proceed?
Thank you in advance!

John,
This is so familiar because I had exactly the same thing happen to me. After tearing it down and reassembling it several times, driving my wife crazy with my frustration, etc., I posted a plea on Pelican. Boy was I embarrassed. It seems that the white nylon (plastic?) slide on one side had worn and was catching on the lever that raises the wind deflector. I think I actually posted some photos on Pelican. You should find them by searching. My member name at Pelican is the same as here.
By the way, if this is the problem, the replacements that Pelican sells are for an earlier car. I finally had to find mine at a dealer. They were still very cheap (for a Porsche dealer anyway!)
Hope this helps.

The cable ends are notorious for coming apart. That's what happened to my original parts, and that's what happened to the 964 style parts that I replaced them with. At least that's what I think happened. I haven't torn it apart again to see what the problem is this time. It closes just fine, and I think it costs about $60 every time I open the thing.
