Default 87 Carrera picked up yesterday

Just wanted to share my recent find. After a long search I am pleased to report that I finally found a really nice low mileage 87 G50 Carrera. I just took delivery of it from a Rennlist Member in Florida yesterday. I haven't decided if I am going to drive it back to Chicago or ship it. I am lucky enough to be able to keep it garaged with family that live in the area until I can make arrangements. I polished and waxed the car yesterday afternoon. I am very happy with the way it came out. The only thing I can see so far that the car needs is a clutch (which I budgeted for in the purchase price). The P.O. is going to take car of a rattling shifter bushing for me and we should be in good shape. Of course, pictures attached!

one thing I regret was not listening to other people's advice saying drive the car back home.
I didn't and wish I did

If it was the dead of winter and you were bringing it back to Chicago, I'd say ship it. But, I think we're in the clear pretty much for avoiding really severe snow storms and it's supposed to be in the '50's by the end of the week here in Milwaukee. I'm sure Chicago area will be warmer!

Congrats and have fun driving her home!

Default Drive it.

I drove mine back from where I bought it. Best ride ever.....drive it and then tell us about it with text and pics.

Have fun,
Real

It's not like it's his first Porsche... He's had quite a few, including a 3.2. In my opinion, the "first drive home" experience is a special one when it's your first.

I'd say ship it, especially since low mileage seems to be important to you. Florida to Chicago is a loooong way...

BTW, very nice car.

if you have the time (2 or 3 days), drive it. one day to N GA, then a day through the Smokies, then high-tail it home. if weather closes in, just park it (friend, dealer or RL member w/ garage space - if anyone has any...), then go back to get it afterwards.

Nice one!

Drive it if you can. I couldn't but wished I could . . .
