My boss is asking me the value of a friends 1976 912e in"mint condition"...Should he buy it at $10,000? I honestly have no idea.

depends...how many miles on it? Has it been overhauled? Paint condition? does it have air conditioning. H4's? New tires? Condition of the interior? If all these things have been done, you still need a PPI because if the heads are bad on that 2.0 liter motor, they are big bucks. They are not the same haeds as on a 2.0 liter 914. A really good one with all the above done to it....maybe $7500.

I went and looked at this '76 912e. new red paint that looked good. +/-103,000 miles on the clock. partial restoration on a smoker's tan interior. no air. can't get it to pass smog. I felt bad for the car....He want's $8,500 for it. should I run away, yes...

If it can't pass smog, why would you want it. Can't drive it. Need to find out why it won't pass smog. have the thermal reactors been removed? Does it still have the fuel injection or does it now have carbs? I owned one for 15 years and a lot of stuff could cause it to fail emissions.

hey I know what car you're talking about. It's for sale on LA publications. I was gonna buy it but decided that i did not need to spend more cash. Here's what I was gonna do. I was gonna buy it and register it out of state but didn't research the matter any longer so any hurdles that you'll find are out of sight for me. One thing is for sure, the car is really nice, all it needs is its original Fuel Injection system. You can sell the carbs and make most of your money back. I was gonna post a pic of it but nah I'm too tired. Good night and good luck.

You might as well get a mid-year 911 for the same money or look for a Long Hood 912.

I don't think this is the same car for a couple of reasons, it still has fuel injection and it wasn't advertised. The question is, is $8,500 too much for this car that will need another $4-5,000 in interior and fuel injection??? Well, he has a 997, he drives to work twice a week. his son is a senior in high school....he has to buy it!

Boy, if you have to stick $12,500 or $13,500 in a 1976 912E, then that's a bit much since that same money will buy a relatively nice 1976 911 with probably a recent motor rebuild and in good shape. Just a few more grand and you can most likely pick up a show ready '76 911 that's needs nothing.

So, unless you really want a '76 912E (and some people love 'em), I'd skip it at $8500. That's high dollar for a car that seems like it needs some mone spent on it to make right.

All it took was splitting a 12 pack and he got it. $8,500 green cash. Ouch! I guess he left his 997 behind in favor of the 912e. The best part is that on sunday morning his brother in law came over and begged him for the car. On his hands and knees. He use to build baja bugs and wanted it for the sole purpose of working on it with his kids. Hope it works out...thanks guys

75 to 77 911 and 912 are problematic. The thermal reactors fry the motor. Hard to pass smog and big bucks to repair.
